The Gurugram Police arrested four people on Saturday who were allegedly involved in the armed robbery at Mannapuram Finance Company, which took place on Thursday. The police seized 30 kg of gold, along with weapons used during the heist, from the accused.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the police, which was assigned the task of probing the heist, nabbed three of the accused from the Sector 29 area. One of the suspects was arrested from Ahmedabad in Gujarat and is being brought to Gurugram.

During an armed heist on February 9, 33 kg of gold along with cash worth Rs 7.8 lakh was looted from a branch of  Mannapuram Finance Company near Railway Road. During the robbery, a security guard and a customer were badly injured. The incident shook the city as the robbery had taken place in broad daylight, and that too near a busy road.

According to the police, they got hold of the culprits after scrutinising the bank records of one of the robbers, whose face was captured in a CCTV camera present at the bank.

The three accused who were arrested from the Sector 29 area are Hoshiyar Singh (26), Vikas Gupta (29) and Bijendra Kumar alias Chabeela. The other accused, Devendra Kumar (23), was arrested by a special team in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Two of the culprits are residents of Haryana and one is from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. All of them are believed to be graduates.

Sandeep Khirwar, Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, said, “All the arrested accused will be presented in court and further interrogation will take place in police remand. We are hoping that all the jewellery and money would soon be retrieved.”

Mukesh Kumar, the security guard who was injured during the heist, told DNA, “I hope the police recover every penny from them as a lot of hard work was invested in the gold that was robbed. “
