Man shot by acquaintances for refusing to drink alcohol

A 27-year-old man was shot at by a group of people known to him when he refused to consume alcohol in New Usmanpur area of northeast Delhi. Police said that the victim was out of danger and efforts to arrest the accused are being made.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Naushad, told police in his statement that late last night one of his acquaintances, Dilshad, who lives near his house, invited her to meet near 5 Pushta road. Police said that Dilshad had also called a few more friends and soon all of them started consuming alcohol and even forced Naushad to drink.

"As he refused strictly, an argument started between him and Dilshad's friends, which soon turned ugly. During this, one of them pulled out a pistol and shot at Naushad. The bullet pierced his abdomen. As he collapsed, the accused fled from the scene.

Naushad then made a PCR call and and was rushed to a hospital, where he was treated and a case of attempt to murder has been registered. Teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused,"said a senior police officer
