A tailor and a labourer have been arrested by the crime branch for allegedly killing a youth, following a tiff over gambling in the Nand Nagri area. The duo, one of them the son of the Pradhan of the area, had wrapped the dead body in a gunny bag after shooting the victim and threw it in a drain near Seemapuri.
The accused were identified as Karan Goel (22) and Imran (31).
One country-made pistol used for the murder was recovered from them. According to the police, on February 10, a dead body was found dumped in a gunny bag in the drain near a CNG Pump in Dilshad Garden.
“The deceased had deep wounds on the head. Inspection of the crime scene and available evidence on the spot were indicative that the victim was murdered about 5-6 weeks ago at some unknown place and the body was disposed of in the nallah.
During the investigation, the dead body was identified as that of Ajay alias Ajju, a resident of Nand Nagri,” Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime Alok Kumar said.
On Tuesday, after receiving a tip-off that the accused will come near Gagan Cinema in Nand Nagri, a trap was laid and Karan and Imran were nabbed.
“During interrogation, Karan revealed that on January 1, when Ajay came to his shop in Nand Nagri they had a scuffle. The dispute took an ugly turn when Ravinder Goel interfered. Ajay threatened the duo with dire consequences. At this point, Karan took out the pistol and shot at Ajay twice leaving him dead on the spot.”Kumar said.
