A 50-year-old man went on a mass killing spree, killing the son and wife of his business partner and leaving him, his elder son and domestic help injured.

Police officers said that Rajesh Jolly reached the residence of his business partner Ajay Khurana in Noida's Sector- 39 area on Tuesday night where he shot Khurana's wife and younger son Ankush.

They added Khurana and his elder son Amit overpowered Jolly but not without sustaining serious injuries. All three have been admitted to the Kailash Hospital in Noida. Their condition is said to be stable.

Recreating the sequence of events, the police said that Jolly knocked at Khurana's door around 11pm on Tuesday night. When Rajendra, the domestic help, opened the door, Jolly stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon multiple times and went inside the house. He entered the bungalow and started firing indiscriminately from his two pistols he was carrying, at anyone who came his way.

Khurana's younger son Ankush was first shot dead at point blank range and hearing his screams, his mother Anju came out of her room but was shot in the chest.

"Prima facie, it appears that the two business partners had some dispute over the purchase of a property recently. Looking at the scene of crime, it seems that he was looking to kill everyone in the house," said Dinesh Yadav, Superintendent of Police (City), Noida.

Jolly then fired at Khurana and his elder son Amit but his pistol malfunctioned, following which the duo tried to overpower him. He, however, attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon, giving them multiple injuries.

"I tried to overpower him but he attacked me with a knife. After some altercation, he rushed upwards and locked himself inside a room on the first floor," said Amit.

Locals heard the gunshots and informed the police. A team reached the spot and Jolly was taken into custody.

"Jolly was lying inside the room in a pool of blood with heavy head injuries. He was hitting his head with the baton of the pistol. We have recovered two country-made pistols, a knife and 40 live cartridges from his possession. Around 11 bullets were fired. He was also under the influence of alcohol," said Yadav.

Jolly has suffered traumatic brain injuries and is currently on an artificial ventilator. Doctors say his chances of surviving are minimal. Rajender has suffered deep stomach injuries as the knife stabs have damaged his intestine. Khurana was discharged on Wednesday afternoon." said VB Joshi, spokesperson, Kailash Hospital.

Jolly lived in Mayur Vihar Phase-1 with his wife, mother and a 15-year-old son who studies in Amity International School, sector 44, Noida.
