High drama was created around midnight in the Elite Club of Gurugram on Sunday, after a woman accused a man of molesting her on the pretext of dancing. She later, however, refused to give a written statement in this regard while the accused, along with two other men, was arrested. According to the police, the woman, a native of Nepal, had visited the club with her husband and friends. Around 12.30 am, she went to a police team deployed on the MG road and complained that while she was dancing, a man touched her inappropriately, and that when her friends objected, he beat them up, Vikas Kaushik, SHO, Sector 29, said.

Based on her verbal complaint, the police arrested the accused from the spot. By then, he had been thrashed by the bouncers at the club.

After the arrest, when the police asked her to give a statement, she refused. "We told her that an FIR could only be registered based on her complaint but she refused," Kaushik said.

A few hours later, when the police convinced her that it was important to give a statement, she did not bring up the molestation angle. As a result, a case was registered under Sections 159 and 160 (affray) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Along with the accused, the police also arrested two friends of the woman.
