It was needed. In fact we are prepared for a long haul. Because it is about the dignity and safety of not just bureaucrats but all Delhi government employees. A person who is working in Delhi Jal Board, or sitting outside the office of a municipal commissioner, is fearful about his security. The surprising part is that everything (the alleged of the Chief Secretary) happened in front of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
We are appointed under the Constitution of India and report to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. As a part of the administrative setup, our job is to coordinate with the state government and help it in the implementation of policies. The government and bureaucrats needs to work together in coordination.
We will not bow down this time. In past cases, we have been holding back, but not this time. The CS is the top officer and no one can disrespect him. We have sought time from Cabinet Ministers and are waiting for their response. The state government will have to respect the integrity of the officers.
