The Haryana Police thrashed and baton-charged a few youths outside the Sahara Mall on Mehrauli-Gurugram Road on the New Year's Eve for indulging in hooliganism.

The accused wanted to enter a mall to celebrate the arrival of New Year in a pub inside it. Since the mall was overcrowded, they were not allowed in, which led to the entire fiasco.

A viral video showed a crowd of people gathered outside the mall and uniformed policemen raining slaps and blows on one of the youths. Baton-wielding cops soon joined the melee and start attacking another young man. A few men dressed in green reflector jackets, possibly mall guards, could also be seen attacking the two men. The video ended with the police chasing one of the men away from the mall.

In order to ensure safety and security, at least 250 cops had been deployed at the Cyber City. Furthermore, the MG Road was also made a no-entry zone for cars. Although there were reports of drunken men misbehaving with girls, the police claimed that no such incidents took place on the night.
