Four held for making extortion demand to bizman

The Gautam Budh Nagar police have arrested four people for allegedly involved in an extortion of Rs 2 crore from a Delhi-based businessman.

Three people were arrested on Saturday night after a brief encounter in Sector 80. The fourth and the master mind of the plan was arrested from Kulesara on Sunday Morning.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Azad Sharma, Vikas, Sanju and Arvind, who had fired multiple rounds on his car last week.

The police had been looking for them since then.

"The encounter took place at around 8pm when Sharma, Sanju and Vikas attacked the police. During cross fire Sharma and Vikas were shot in the leg and Sanju was nabbed. On Sunday morning we managed to nab Arvind who was the master mind in this extortion plan,"said Arun Kumar, Superintendent Of Police, (city), Gautam Budh Nagar.

During interrogation, Arvind revealed that he had been driving the businessman Umesh Vij's car for the last two years. However, he was sacked from the job two years ago. Following which he was was unhappy with Vij.

"Arvind told Sharma that the businessman can give around Rs 2 crore extortion easily if he is pressured. The four accused then plotted the extortion racket. So on Monday night, Sharma, Vikas and Sanju had fired at the car of Vij, and then next morning, called Vij from an unknown number and demanded Rs 2 crore from him and reminded him of the last nights firing incident. Vij then filed a complaint at Phase-2 police station," Kumar added.

Vij had informed Noida police that on Monday night he was returning with his daughter Pallavi, from office to home in his car. 

On the way someone unidentified criminals opened fire at his car, but he accelerated and managed to escape. The businessman scanned the vehicle at his residence and found a bullet mark.

Police have booked them under section 307(attempt to Murder) and 25/27 arms act of the Indian Penal Code. Police have recovered several pistols and ammunitions from their possession.
