As Delhi University came out with its third cut-off list, scores of students who couldn't make it to the colleges of their choice in North Campus, hopped over to colleges in South Campus hoping to secure a seat.

"I wanted to go to a college in North Campus. But my percentage was around 74 per cent which is too low for any good college here. But the third cut-off list was like a ray of hope as I could make it to Motilal Nehru College," said Nitish Kumar, an aspirant who failed to get admission in any of the North Campus colleges.

Gayatri, a BA programme student said, "I wanted to go for Political Science (Hons) in one of the colleges in DU, and North Campus was my first preference. But DU doesn't consider Physical Education as an academic subject and thus my marks of best of four dropped."

While a section of students is compromising with their dream of getting into the colleges of North Campus, there are a few students who are really enjoying their success in South Campus. Nayla travelled all the way from Kerala to get admission in DU under third cut off list. "Getting into Lady Shri Ram college is a dream come true. The only issue I have had was with my OBC certificate. There is a slight mistake due to which my seat was kept on a waiting list. I hope to get the certificate rectified soon," she said.

Gaurav, an English Honours student of Aryabhatta college mentioned, "I always wanted to get into any college of South Campus. Unlike others, I have never thought of getting into North Campus. My parents always wanted me to study here, Moreover, North Campus is too far from my place. So, I am really satisfied with my selection.

Aspirants race for new options

Around 57 per cent of a total of around 52,000 seats in undergraduate courses in various Delhi University colleges have been filled following the release of three cut-off lists by the varsity.
While seats for much preferred BA (Hons) English and Economics courses were still open in various colleges, SRCC, LSR and Hindu have closed their admissions for some of the courses.
