Delhi's per capita income thrice the national average

When it comes to earning money, Delhiites are at the top in the country. As per the Estimates of State Domestic Product 2016-17, released by the Delhi government on Monday, the per capita income in Delhi for 2016-17 is expected to be over Rs 300,000 annually, nearly three times the corresponding national average.

Against Rs 273,618 during 2015-16, the per capita income of Delhi in 2016-17 is expected to be Rs 303,073. Goa came second with Rs 270,150 while Chandigarh grabbed third position with Rs 242,386 expected per capita income in 2016-17. "This reveals the annual growth of 10.76 per cent, against the 10.2 per cent growth at the national level. The expected per capita income of Delhi is nearly three times higher than the national average of Rs 103,818 for 2016-17," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

Also, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in Delhi, at the current prices for the year 2016-17, is estimated to be Rs 622,385 crore, against Rs 551,963 crore in 2015-16, registering a growth of 12.76 per cent. Delhi's contribution in total GDP at the national level is 4.08%.
