The Delhi High court refused to grant relief to private schools who wanted that a stay on their move to hike fees be vacated. On October 17, the Delhi government had allowed schools to increase fees, but students challenged the move and obtained a court stay.

The court said on Monday that it will not entertain any proxy litigation. A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Deepa Sharma said that schools which have problems can individually come and put forth their grievances.

"The school which has a problem can individually come here. We are not going to entertain any proxy litigation," the bench said, coming down heavily on private schools.

The court's remarks came on an application filed by the Action Committee of Recognised Unaided Schools and the National Progressive Schools Conference Society. They wanted the fee hike to implementation the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) recommendations.

Schools said that due to the December 20, 2017 order of the Delhi High Court, teachers and officials were not getting the benefits of the CPC recommendations.

The High Court had stayed the fee hike move on a petition filed by 88 students of ASN Senior Secondary School. The plea said that private schools have enough money and they do not need to increase fees.
