The Delhi Police Special Cell, along with the Madhya Pradesh (MP) Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), arrested a 62-year-old man, suspected of having links with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), from the old Delhi area on Saturday evening.

The arrestee was identified as Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Daryaganj. According to the police, Jabbar was apprehended on the basis of an investigation into a case registered by the MP ATS on February 2. The unit then organised an operation with the help of the Special Cell and Jabbar was nabbed from his office in Urdu Bazar near Jama Masjid.

Last week, the ATS had arrested 11 men for their suspected involvement in running an international call center that helped the ISI to spy on India's military operations. The arrests were made after technical surveillance revealed that the suspects were using equipment to route international calls.

All the 11 men and Jabbar have been booked under provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act, along with Sections 122 and 123 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deal with collecting arms, information, and other things for waging war against the country.

Officers suspect that the accused were revealing sensitive information pertaining to defence installations and camps, along with other confidential and strategic information, to their accomplices in the neighbouring country.

Meanwhile last month, in a similar case, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) ATS had arrested a person from south Delhi's Mehrauli area and recovered equipment and SIM boxes from his possession. The man was running an illegal call center from a renowned coaching institute, where he worked as an IT expert.
