Cops trace 3 girls who escape from shelter

According to the police, in the intervening night on Friday, four girls scaled the wall of the Shelter Home 'Prayas' in Ambedkar Nagar. The girls, who had used a dupatta in their bid to escape, sustained injuries while doing so.

The South-East district police have traced three of the four missing girls who had run away from a shelter home in Ambedkar Nagar. The three girls who had sustained injuries during their bid to escape were treated at the AIIMS Trauma centre.

According to the police, in the intervening night on Friday, four girls scaled the wall of the Shelter Home 'Prayas' in Ambedkar Nagar. The girls, who had used a dupatta in their bid to escape, sustained injuries while doing so.

Three of them were later traced and safely rescued. They were taken to two AIIMS trauma centres. Two of them have been discharged while another is still undergoing treatment.

About the girls, one of them is a native of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. She was recovered from New Delhi Railway Station and sent back to the shelter home as per the order of Child Welfare Committee. Her parents were informed and asked to take her custody.

Another girl is from Bihar and was traced in Jaitpur area. She was sent back to the shelter home as well. The remaining two girls, out of which one is still missing, are residents of Delhi.

A case of kidnapping was registered after the parents of the two girls from Delhi had complained to the police.

Search operations on

The Delhi girl who was found has reportedly refused to stay with her parents and hence she has been sent back to the shelter home as well. Police are now looking for the fourth missing girl.
