Cops nab 5 men for stealing 25 vehicles

The accused men would sell the cars in Jammu and Kashmir, Sambhal, Moradabad, Amroha and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh

The South-West district police have arrested five persons for stealing over two dozen cars. Four of the accused have over thirty previous cases of theft registered against them. The accused men would sell the cars in Jammu and Kashmir, Sambhal, Moradabad, Amroha and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh.

"The arrested accused have been identified as Suresh alias Raj alias Sunny (38), Mohammed Idrish alias Sameer (42), Shoaib (35), Mohammed Waseem (29) and Mohammed Saalim (32)," said a senior police officer.

The accused men would first receive a demand for a car and then in order to fulfill that demand they would steal a car. They used a specially fabricated screwdriver kind of tool to open the lock of the car. Females were also hired to escort so that locals and the police do not raise suspicion.

The police officer while investigating the case of a car theft in Uttam Nagar on September 19, 2017 zeroed down on the suspects. Suresh and Idrish were detained and questioned at length. They revealed that they had stolens several cars and later sold them in Delhi, NCR, Srinagar (J&K) and places like Sambhal, Moradabad, Amroha and Bijnour. On their instance two stolen cars were recovered from Shahdara, Delhi and Ghaziabad (UP).

Both the accused were arrested and sent to police custody. During their police custody they revealed the named of the remaining three and raids were carried out to nab them.
