Now that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has joined hands with Google Maps, commuters who use the Delhi Metro will hereon be able to get information about the Metro's routes, fares and connectivity on Google Maps. The development is in tandem with DMRC's objective to offer a more commuter-friendly public transport system.

Following in the footsteps of Mumbai Metro, the DMRC will also provide transit details of the rail system on mobile devices via Google Maps. This service intends to help commuters check available Metro schedules, make route changes on-the-go and plan their trips accordingly.

"Users can zoom around and find relevant information about various Metro routes, platform and fare details. The commuters will also get to view step-by-step directions for the entire route," said Anuj Dyal, executive director, corporate communication, DMRC.

The DMRC is also planning to integrate details related to the facilities available at Metro stations such as parking and rest rooms in the next phase of the collaboration.

"We are combining integrated services like local information and driving directions with features like Transit given by Google Maps. People will be able to access complete information on Delhi Metro routes, line details, platform details and fares, once the new facility is rolled out," Dyal added.
