An employee of the Indian Overseas Bank, operating inside a Delhi University (DU) college premises, allegedly molested a varsity student on Wednesday. An FIR in this regard was registered at North Campus’ Maurice Nagar police station, following which he was arrested.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Devinder Kumar, 52, works as a clerk at the bank. He molested the victim inside his car while they were on their way to college on Wednesday. “The victim has accused him of touching her inappropriately,” the police said, adding that a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.

The college principal said: “We can’t comment on the issue as nothing happened inside the college premises.”  “The student seems to be in a state of shock. She is undergoing counselling,” she added.

The case has come to light just days after a DU professor was harassed and thrashed by a young man while she was on her way to the college.
