The National Law University (NLU) organised its fifth convocation ceremony last week, with several celebrated personalities, including Chief Justice of India (CJI) Jagdish Singh Khehar, attending the event. Khehar was the chief guest on the occasion.

During the convocation, 25 gold medals and five cash prizes were awarded to students. CV Aradhana bagged 11 of the 25 medals.

Congratulating the winners, Khehar urged them to show empathy for the society. "A lawyer who does not empathise with his or her society can never be a good lawyer," he said.

He reminded the students about the duties of a lawyer under the Constitution of India and encouraged them to ensure that the country was governed justly. "India is free but it is yet to taste the true glory of this freedom. Make the people of India attain their glorious future,"the CJI said.

Encouraging the students, NLU Vice-Chancellor Dr Ranbir Singh said: "The institution's graduates will contribute as agents of change to the country's mandate to achieve its future developmental goals."
