Tensions within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continued on Thursday with another party leader and Delhi convenor Deepak Bajpai launching an attack on poet-turned-politician Kumar Vishwas. Bajpai asked him to come up with an explanation for "denouncing" party workers.

"Stop pretence. Stop denouncing workers. You (Vishwas) should introspect first. If you are ashamed then come up with an answer," Bajpai tweeted.

Bajpai was referring to Vishwas' speech to party workers in Rajasthan last week, in which he said that party leaders, who will come for campaigning, will not stay in luxurious hotels or farm houses, as they did during other state elections in the past.

Bajpai is not alone, other party members also objected to Vishwas' statement. AAP spokesperson Preet Kumari also tweeted saying, "True, but not just observers. Whenever Arvind Kejriwal comes to Mumbai he stayed at our houses. I wonder who stays in five-star hotels?"

The development came a day after former AAP Delhi convenor Dilip Pandey questioned Vishwas of being "soft" on Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje while attacking Congress leaders during a television interview.

"Bhaiya, you criticise Congress leaders but you say that you won't attack Vasundhara Raje. Why?" Pandey had asked on Twitter. Despite repeated attempts, Vishwas could not be reached for his comments.

During his address to the party members in Rajasthan, Vishwas had also said that they need to go back to the basics while preparing for the Rajasthan Assembly election to be held next year. "There will be minimum interference of Delhi leaders in planning for the elections and the state unit will have full freedom to take decisions," Vishwas had said.

According to party sources, the leadership is not happy with Vishwas for making such statements in public yet again. "He is making repeated attempts to defame the party and its workers. It's quite evident that he doesn't want to work with the leadership," an AAP legislator said.
