Six members of a family were found unconscious, with two of them having stab wounds on their bodies, in their home in northwest Delhi's Bhalswa village on Tuesday. All members were admitted to hospital and were reported to be unfit to record their statements. Two children sleeping in another room were unhurt but they have no idea about what might have had happened. The Police Control Room (PCR) was informed about the incident around 6am.

The family was in the middle of wedding celebrations. On Tuesday morning, when a relative came to the house to talk about the festivities, she was shocked to find the main door open. She entered and saw the family members in a pool of blood.

Narayani Devi, 75, had a sharp injury mark on her neck while her son Anup was in the other room, with a sharp injury mark on his stomach. Devi's elder son Titu, 50, and his wife Anju, 48, were found in a semi-conscious state in another room. Anup's wife Minakshi, 40, and their son Rajat, 15, were found unconscious in a third room. Minor daughters of Anup and Titu, who were sleeping in a different room, fortunately escaped unhurt.

The victims were rushed to Max Hospital. Police have ruled out robbery as a motive because the house was not ransacked and none of the items were missing. They suspect it to be a case of personal rivalry.

Senior police officers said some of the victims were slowly recalling the possible events but none of them knows for sure exactly what happened. A case has been registered based on the complaint of the aunt who first spotted the family. Further investigation is underway.
