Delhi Police's crime branch have arrested three men involved in gang-raping a woman and then murdering her and one of her friends who was accompanying her, in February this year, in the Kanjhawala area. Police said that the accused had dumped the two bodies in separate far off areas, making it difficult for the police to link the two.

The accused were identified as Jasbir Dabas (31), Devender Kumar (30) and Manjeet (35). According to the police, on February 19 this year, a PCR call was received from Kanjhawala, reporting that the dead body of a lady was seen lying near a pond in Madanpur Dabas area.

The 38-year-old lady was identified and strangulation marks were found on her neck. Her husband told police that she had been missing from a day before. Police said, on the next day, February 20, another dead body of a man was recovered from near a nallah, a little far from the spot where woman's body was recovered. The man's bike was also found parked on the spot, with the help of which he was identified.

"Investigations in both cases revealed that they were murdered somewhere else and then dumped at different spots. Information was received that some criminals are involved in a gang rape-cum-double murder case of Kanjhawala, but had not been named in the FIR as they had been absconding for about a month after the crime. It was found that the trio had recently returned to their respective village and a raiding team conducted a search in outer Delhi following which the three were arrested," said G Ram Gopal Naik, DCP, crime branch.
