Delhi Police busted a gang of frauds and arrested three African nationals who used to dupe people of hefty amounts.

The two accused men have been identified as Oluwole Celestine and Kelechi Kenneth and the woman as Sandra Cage. According to the police, a complaint was submitted by Dr Vijay, in which he alleged that he received a friend request on Facebook by one Sandra Cage, which he accepted and started a conversation with her in October 2017. Vijay said he was in regular touch with Cage and during their chats she expressed her desire to visit India.

"On November 20, 2017, Cage told Vijay that she has arrived in Mumbai but has been held by the immigration department as she carried unauthorised 3.5 lakh pounds and that now she has to pay Rs 45,000 as a penalty. Vijay transferred the amount to her account but, she again called and said that another Rs 70,000 is to be paid to the Income Tax Department. She assured Vijay that she will return the money," said Nupur Prasad, DCP Shahadra.

Further, the next day she called Vijay again and told him that she has to return to the UK but somebody will return the money to him. After two days, one person namely Jacob called Vijay and told him that will come to Delhi.

On December 3, 2017, Jacob came to Vijay's house with a small coffer and said that it has pound 3.5 lakh. However, Jacob played a trick and told Vijay that some solution was needed to clean the notes and went away saying he will try to arrange it.

"Next day, Jacob called Vijay and asked him to transfer Rs 4.5 lakh for the solution and again Rs 30 lakh. Sensing something was wrong, Vijay opened the coffer and found that all notes were fake," Prasad said.

The DCP said a trap was laid and Oluwole Celestine was arrested. At his instance, another co-accused Kelechi Kenneth and a lady were arrested.
