It has been over 48 hours since Mayur Vihar resident Rajesh Jolly killed the wife and son of his business partner Ajay Khurana and injured two, including Khurana, before critically injuring himself. Jolly's family is yet to visit him at the Kailash Hospital where he is admitted since the horrifying incident. Police sources have revealed that in addition to the property dispute angle, cops are also suspecting a love angle in the case.

"Khurana's statement is yet to be recorded. He has, however, told us that he had a cordial relationship with Jolly. The exact motive will come to light only after Jolly regains consciousness," Amarnath Yadav, Station House Officer (SHO), Sector 39 police station, said.

Speaking with DNA, Khurana said: "I have known Jolly for the last 18 years. We had no monetary dispute. On the night of the event, he came to office around 8 pm. He was drunk as usual and seemed happy. He was joking around."

Khurana also suspected Jolly's wife to be the mind behind the incident.

Doctors attending to Jolly, 50, said he continued to be on a ventilator. They cannot operate on him yet as his family has not come forward to sign the consent form. "We have tried calling on the numbers provided to us by the police but no one has come forward. We are trying our best to save his life. His condition improved a bit but then deteriorated again in the early hours of Thursday," VB Joshi, spokesperson for the Kailash Hospital, said.

According to the hospital authorities, police have asked doctors to provide all the medical assistance required to Jolly, who suffered traumatic brain injuries after hitting himself in the head with the butt of a country-made pistol. The property dealer, who originally hails from Agra, came to Delhi 20 years ago, and had been friends with Khurana for the last 18 years.

"The blunt trauma to the scalp has led to the development of contused lacerated wound (CLW), due to which he has lost consciousness. We conducted CT scan of the brain and neck. We suspect internal damage to the brain as his limb movements are affected," Anil Gurnani, Director, intensive care unit of Kailash Hospital, said.

Meanwhile, Khurana's domestic help, who was also injured, has gained consciousness, though he continues to be on the ventilator. "He was taken for surgery (laparotomy) as he was stabbed in the abdomen," Gurnani said.

When DNA visited Jolly's house on Thursday, it was locked and the family could not be reached for comments.

"On Tuesday night, police had taken Meenu (Jolly's wife), his mother, and son to the police station. They haven't returned after that. Jolly had moved to this apartment just a year ago," said Kapil, watchman of the Ashiyana Apartment, where Jolly lived.
