Rajasthan Royals not to ‘Root’ for Amla as Steve Smith weeps over ball karma

It’s a global village and even as a disgraced Steve Smith was “shot” crying in Sydney over his “karma” to instigate ball tampering, things were moving fast in the Rajasthan Royals’ camp. The team has sought a replacement and the new recruit is neither going to be Hashim Amla nor Joe Root.

The franchise’s executive chairman Ranjit Barthakur has confirmed the fact that RR has sought a replacement from BCCI. “We are in a hunt for his replacement and you will get to know about it in the next two days. The matter is with BCCI and it will be sub judice to tell exactly, but already there is a list of two persons. One is from United Kingdom and the other is from South Africa.” When quizzed if would be Joe Root or Ashim Amla, Barthakur declined saying ‘neither’.

Talking about Smith’s “act” in the scandal, executive chairman said that the Royals have moved on. “What all happened has nothing to do with us as he was playing for Australia. We have no comment to make. Certainly it will be sad to lose his leadership.”
