Mumbai Indians along with CSK are known for their big spendings through the last decade of IPL. It continued the same tradition in IPL 11 after retaining three of its players, Rohit, Hardik and Bumrah at a total cost of Rs 33 crores.

Coming to the auction, with a significantly reduced purse due to high retention prices, MI only bought six players in the whole day. That included Krunal Pandya for a whopping Rs 8.8 crore. MI used RTM option to get him. Pollard too was retained using RTM. Other picks are Mustafizur, Suryakumar, Cummins and Ishan Kishan. First three are proven IPL players and Kishan is an exciting talent, though he came for a hefty cost of Rs 6.2 crore.

MI has just over Rs 15 crore left and it still have to take at least 9 players. MI so far doesn't have a frontline spinner. It's pace bowling arsenal and batting ammunitions are also limited. It lacks decent openers and a proper keeper. However, MI fans would probably not sweat too much at this point. Knowing MI's track record through the last decade, it has probably identified all its potential picks and working according to a plan. So be the case, it can't be denied that MI is in a precarious situation at this point of the auction. It need to be careful so that it doesn't end up with a team which lacks balance in one or more departments.

MI team so far:

Krunal Pandya

Ishan Kishan

Kieron Pollard

Pat Cummins
Suryakumar Yadav
Mustafizur Rahman
Rohit Sharma
Hardik Pandya
Jaspreet Bumrah

Mumbai Indians: Krunal Pandya (Rs 8.80 crore), Ishan Kishan (Rs 6.2 crore), Kieron Pollard (Rs 5.40 crore), Pat Cummins (Rs 5.40), Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 3.20 crore), Mustafizur Rahman (Rs 2.20 crore)
