With Australia in trouble after losing three quick wickets in the ICC U-19 World Cup final, Param Uppal came out to bat. Uppal steadied the innings with Jonathan Merlo and scored a handy 34.

During his innings the commentetors talked about the fact that Uppal was promised a car by his father if he managed a place in the under-19 squad. After he selection, his dad Davindar Uppal bought him Mercedes.

One of the commentetor sighed, "Oh, I wish I had a dad like that."

Davindar Uppal's family migrated to Australia from India's Chandigarh where Param was born fifteen years ago.

Param's father Davindar is a decent club cricketer who plays for local sides. Parram would spend his Saturday morning playing junior cricket and then get driven to watch his father play senior cricket in the afternoon.

At the age of 14, Param was named junior cricketer of the year for his state. Then followed three consecutive hundreds in the U16's, half centuries in first grade cricket against men and a century on debut for the Australian U19 team against Sri Lanka last year.

Davindar might have cheered for India throughout his life but now that his son is representing the national team he is happy to declare his allegiance has changed.

"In 2015 World cup semi-final I wore a India shirt and Param wore an Australian jersey. On Saturday (when Australia and India face off in the Under-19 final) , I will definitely be hoping Australia wins" he told Cricbuzz.
