To compete with Reliance Jio, Airtel now offers 2GB data per day in Rs 349

Till now, the other two biggies, Vodafone and Idea had not announced any such data plans but experts believe they both will soon follow the suit.

In order to outbid Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel has revised its two plans under them now the firm provides 500MB more data per day to consumers, in addition to other freebies. 

With the new revision, the firm would be at par in the data fight against Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio. Till now, the other two biggies, Vodafone and Idea had not announced any such data plans but experts believe they both will soon follow the suit. 

The Rs 349 Airtel plan was launched in September providing 1GB daily data along with unlimited local and STD calls and 100 text messages per day. The validity of that plan was of eight days. But now, the Rs 349 plan offers 2GB data per day. That will make a total of 56GB data in the validity period. Besides the free data, customers are still eligible to get free outgoing calls on roaming with this pack now. 

The Reliance Jio in its Rs 309 plan offers 49GB data at 1GB per day and 49-day validity, along with free calls, 3,000 SMSes, roaming outgoing calls, and access to Jio apps.

Another offer, which Airtel modified is its Rs 549 plan. Under which, the company has increased the data limit to provide 3GB data every day. In addition to which, consumers will get unlimited local and STD calls and 100 SMSes, and free outgoing calls on roaming. 

The plan has a validity of 28 days with a total of 84GB data. 

Earlier, Airtel also introduced two new data packs at Rs 157 and Rs 49 respectively. Under the Rs 157 pack, prepaid users will get data benefits worth 3GB while the Rs 49 pack offers data benefits worth 1GB. These plans are valid for 27 days.

Recently, Vodafone also rolled out a new prepaid plan for its customers in Delhi-NCR circle with unlimited calls across the country. The plan also comes with 4G data. The company announced the plan after Aircel launched a Rs 104 pack that slashes down the call tariff to 20 paisa per minute for 365 days.

Priced at Rs 199, the new Vodafone plan facilitates unlimited calls and 1GB data. The plan has a validity of 28 days. However, the customers will be able to make free calls for maximum 250 minutes in a day and 1,000 minutes in a week.

In case, the subscribers exhaust their limit, then calls will be charged at 30 paisa per minute.  Vodafone also made it clear that customers cannot make calls to more than 300 unique numbers in a week's period. In case, they breach it then all calls will be charged at 30 paisa per minute for the remaining days within the validity span.

Idea Cellular has launched a new Rs 179 plan with unlimited voice calling and 1GB data at Rs 179. The plan is applicable for Idea prepaid users and comes with 28 days of validity.
