PM to inaugurate global conference on cyber space in Nov

The fifth edition of Global Conference on Cyber Space (GCCS) 2017, hosted by India, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 23 this year.

Ministers from various countries including France, Netherlands, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Portugal, Bangladesh and the United Kingdom will be attending the event. Besides, Houlin Zhao, secretary general, International Telecommunication Union, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman, Bharti Enterprises will be part of the event.

As many as 3,500 officials are expected attend this week-long event directly as well as virtually from India and abroad through video conferences, webinars and webcasts.

For those who are not travelling to Delhi, about 800 locations around the world will be connected to GCCS 2017 through video conference and 2000 locations through webinar.

Ministry of Electronics and IT, in partnership with the industry, international organisations, academia and think tanks will be managing the event. 'Cyber4All' will be the main theme, where all would discuss various issues related to four sub-themes - Cyber4InclusiveGrowth, Cyber4Digitalinclusion, Cyber4Security and Cyber4Diplomacy.

Discussions will also be held around emerging technologies such as blockchain, Internet of Things, proliferation of Indic languages and smart cities. The rising ESDM (electronics system design & manufacturing) sector in India, National Software Policy, and Cyber Policy will be some of the other key focus areas.
