With 'Ranchi Diaries', Anupam Kher proves his passion for introducing new talent in the industry

In a career spanned over three decades and more than 500 films to his credit, Anupam Kher has never shied away from working with fresh talent. If critically acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt gave him a life changing film, 'Saraansh', then there was debutant filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee's film 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' whose film also stands out in his filmmography.

And now comes 'Ranchi Diaries', written and directed by Sattwik Mohanty who was looking for a producer to back his film. Anupam Kher was among the first one to hear the script and not only gave his nod for the role of a baddie but agreed to pitch in as one of the producers too. While promoting his film in Delhi Kher said, " When Sattwik came to me with the script I said I like it but who is the producer. He said that I don't have any producer.I told him whenever you have a producer come back. After 2 months I called him he said he hadn't found a producer till then but said he was still trying. That's when I decided to get on board." 

'Ranchi Diaries' is a light hearted comedy from the heartland of India. It is about an aspiring singer and her gang of friends trying to make it big in the small town of Ranchi. And not just a new director, the film also launches a fresh face in the lead. Apart from Jimmy Shergill, Taahir Shah, Satish Kaushik and Himansh Kohli, Soundarya Sharma debuts in the film As Kher describes her charater as "Ranchi ki Shakira' she gets to perform glamorous dance numbers like ' Fashion Queen' too. She prepared for her part for three months and stopped going to any other audition for nine months after signing Ranchi Diaries.
