From the time of its announcement, Umesh Shukla’s 102 Not Out, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor as father and son respectively, has piqued cinegoers’ curiosity. While it is known that their characters are Gujarati, here’s something no one told you before.
Considering that Gujaratis, by and large, don’t wear footwear when they are at home, Umesh made sure that the two actors didn’t don slippers in the indoor scenes, so that their characters came across as real as possible. When asked about getting Bachchan and Kapoor to go barefoot for the indoor portions, the director replies, “We, Gujaratis, don’t have the habit of sporting any footwear inside our homes. So, I wanted Amitji and Rishiji also to not wear shoes during the shoot. I was in two minds whether I should ask them or not. But when I discussed it with them, they instantly agreed.”
It’s not surprising as that’s the dedication which makes them the iconic actors they are today.
A Sony Pictures International Presentation and worldwide distribution, 102 Not Out, produced by SPE Films India, Treetop Entertainment and Umesh Shukla’s Benchmark Pictures, releases worldwide on May 4.
