On February 21, the actor's spokesperson had released a statement, saying he had been diagnosed with a "severe case of jaundice" and after a few days the actor took to Twitter to say that he is suffering from a rare disease. Since then various reports guessing about Irrfan's health condition has been doing the rounds. Some reports even suggested that he suffering from brain cancer.
Manoj Bajpayee took to Facebook to request everyone to stop speculating and pray for his speedy recovery instead. He wrote, "request all to stop speculations about irrfan's health and wait for the official confirmation from his side.its quite insensitive to guess and spread rumour about anyone's illness.plz delete all the post and pray for his health.he will fight it out and come out of it like a champion .praying for his speedy recovery. Lets all respect his privacy."
In an interview to PTI, Irrfan's co-star in 'Blackmail' Kriti Kulhari also said, "I wouldn't want to be pestering him or his team for anything, for an update. He has made it very clear to everybody that he needs some time, some space. It's sad that people are not doing that. But I'm really hoping and praying that we hear some good news from him soon," she says.
Irrfan's health has got team of Vishal Bhardwaj film 'Rani' worried.One of the producers, Prernaa Arora told an entertainment portal, “ From Day 1 Vishal sir was sure Irrfan Sir was going to be the one and only choice for this role. And that’s the way it’s going to remain. We wish Irrfan Sir speedy recovery and can’t wait to start our film with him.”
