After a controversial stint as the CBFC chief, Pahlaj Nihalani is back to filmmaking. Moreover, he seems unfazed by the debacle of his controversial film, Julie 2 and has a couple of films lined up already.

Now as per a report in Mid-Day, one of the films that Pahlaj is eyeing is 1993 action-comedy Aankhen and he is keen on making a sequel to the film. The report also suggests that he’s not only ready with the script but he already has names in mind for the two male leads in the film. Apparently, he wishes to cast Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in the film, in which he plans to showcase two pairs of twins.

Not only does he have a script nearly ready, but also his choices of actors. With two leads in the movie, he wants Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor to come on board for this one. But if they don’t agree, he has other options as well. “Ranveer and Arjun are No 1 on my wish-list. I want them to play the leads in Aankhan Chaar," says the former CBFC chief.

Meanwhile, if his wish to cast Ranveer and Arjun doesn’t materialise, he also has a backup in mind. Talking about it, he says, "They have great chemistry. With each character playing a double role, we will see two Ranveers and two Arjuns, along with a chimpanzee." Should the deal with the actors not materialise, he already has a back-up plan. "Ranbir and Imran will also make an excellent combination, as will Ranbir and Shahid [Kapoor] and Ayushmann [Khurrana] and Rajkummar [Rao]."

Pahlaj further revealed to the tabloid that the the animal will be the only common thread between the original and the sequel. Meanwhile, he wishes the new version to appeal to the young audience and days, "The subject will be completely different. It should reflect current times. It should be modern, keeping the trends and the youth's preferences in mind. It will have Indian values and sentiments at its core, but, will be one that appeals to the youth," he says, confirming that it will be a comedy since "people want entertainment".

Well, we certainly wish to know Ranveer and Arjun’s thoughts on this.
