Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone as the protagonist, has been mired into a lot of controversies. Following massive protests against its release and an incomplete application by the makers for clearance by the CBFC, the release of the film has been voluntarily postponed by the makers.
While a number of B-Town actors had come out in support of the film and especially voiced their concerns about the death threats given to Deepika and Bhansali, Shatrughan Sinha shared that he'll speak on the matter only after the filmmaker speaks up. While SLB and the film's team has repeatedly denied the allegations of Rajput Karni Sena, which says that Padmavati misrepresents their culture and and distorts facts.
Sometime back, Shotgun Sinha had questioned the silence of Bollywood big-wigs like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan on the matter. He took to his Twitter account and wrote, "As Padmavati becomes a burning controversy, people are asking why the legendary @SrBachchan, most versatile @aamir_khan & most popular @iamsrk have no comments..& how come our I&B Minister or our most popular Hon'ble PM (according to PEW) are maintaining stoic silence. High time!"
He added, "As for me, I would & should speak on Padmavati issue only after the "great filmmaker, producer S.L.Bhansali" speaks up. I speak only when I am spoken to & I will speak keeping in mind the interests of the filmmaker as well as the sensitivity, valour, loyalty of the great Rajputs."
Now, the Rajput Karni Sena has honoured him for not taking the side of the filmmaker, Deepika Padukone and team Padmavati. Several reports suggested that during the event, Sinha lashed out at Sanjay Leela Bhansali once again, for screening the film for select media persons even before getting a clearance from the CBFC. He alleged that Bhansali went back on his words, of showing the film to Karni Sena.
While Salman Khan has already spoken in support of Bhansali and the film, DNA After Hrs had already reported that both Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan personally extended their support to Deepika and called her up personally, soon after the death threats were issued against her and SLB. The reason why they didn't voice their concerns in public is because every time they do so publicly, they get mistreated.
