Sara Ali Khan's debut film Kedarnath with Sushant Singh Rajput is back to making news for all the wrong reasons. The latest we hear is that Abhishek Kapoor's production has decided to part ways with Kriarj Entertainment on Kedarnath. While the two houses had collaborated on the much ambitious project of Abhishek's directorial venture, the latter no more is a part of the film.

When probed, sources close to the director have revealed that due to default of payments and lack of transparency, Abhishek's production has decided to close the fairly new association. The rumours of their Prernaa Arora and Abhishek Kapoor's clash of opinions have been doing the rounds for the longest time now. Earlier it was reported that Abhishek insisted on releasing Kedarnath on the same date as Shah Rukh Khan's dwarf film by Aanand L Rai. As per sources, Prerna found it "ridiculous" to clash with SRK at the box-office. While she was in the middle of negotiating with SRK to come up with a solution, Abhishek confirmed the release date for Kedarnath on Twitter as December 21, 2018. Abhishek’s act did not go down well with the producer and apparently, both were at loggerheads. Abhishek had denied the rumours then.

The subject of the film also has been immensely talked about, a love story that is set against the backdrop of the devastating incident of 2013 floods. Abhishek has been amidst shooting the film and has completed its first schedule.

Earlier in an DNA After Hrs the director gave details about the idea behind Kedarnath. He said, “In my house, spirituality has been a guiding principle. I am a big believer of Shivji and the cosmic forces that oversee us. There are two kinds of people in the spiritual world — believers and seekers. A believer has trust in the universe and a seeker is someone who is trying to gain that trust. I’ve been both, and I have had some great experiences spiritually. I’m originally a seeker, but at times, I’ve found myself fully immersed in God.”

Kedarnath is a love story based against the backdrop of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods. Gattu adds, “The incident didn’t leave my mind, due to the stories that came out of it — devastating and remarkable in equal measure. I had to go ahead and develop a film set against that backdrop. I believe it is one of the most important stories that I can tell for modern India.”
