Has Vaani Kapoor been finalised for Shahid Kapoor-starrer ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’?

Shahid Kapoor, who will next be seen as Maha Rawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial film Padmavati, has already been roped in for a film titled Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The film is said to chronicle a common man’s struggles with electricity shortage and the sky-high prices charged. 

Speculations were rife for long that the film, directed by Shree Narayan Singh of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame, will see Katrina Kaif or Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead but currently actress had been signed for the film. 

But now as per a report in Mid-Day, the latest name doing the rounds is that of Vaani Kapoor. The report suggests that Vaani has had a series of meetings with producers Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor and she is likely to sign the film. If things fall into place, the film will be Vaani’s first film outside the Yash Raj Films’ banner. 

Meanwhile, the Befikre actress will also be seen with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in a film directed by Siddharth Anand. Since Siddharth’s film will roll later in 2018, Vaani is first expected to shoot for Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which kicks off by February.
