The Karnataka High Court has asked Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to submit details on whether they could construct more houses for economically weaker sections who lost their house in early 2000's. The matter pertains to a petition filed by various occupants of Ejipura whose house had collapsed early in 2000. The petitioners contend that even though they do not belong to the original 1512 people to whom allotments were made in the same complex, they sought for new buildings in the same area.

Earlier BBMP and BDA had passed a resolution to build new houses for them also but they had earlier contended in the previous hearing that it was not approved. The houses were constructed with the help of Maverick Holdings and Investment pvt Ltd. The 1512 houses were allowed in 2012 when the High Court passed an order allowing to construct buildings in Ejipura measuring in and around 7.25 acres. In 1996 1512 people were allotted flats. But in 2003, a few blocks were demolished and the residents were shifted to temporary sheds with the promise that whole colony will be rebuilt. The matter has been in the court for the past many years and there is no relief for them, according to the petitioners. The court on Wednesday asked BBMP whether they could construct more houses for others and submit the details by next hearing.
