In the case pertaining to Yelahanka MLA SR Viswanath, the Karnataka High Court has directed the petitioner V Shashidhar to file the case against the concerned police inspector in the magistrate court, under a stronger law.

Shashidhar, a social activist had alleged that the MLA allegedly drew salary from both, State and Central Governments simultaneously.

In the previous hearing, the court had summoned the Yelahanka police inspector who refused to file a case against the MLA. In the petition, Shashidhar had said that as per the information received through the RTI act, Viswanath was working as a mechanic in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and was a Member of the Zilla Panchayat from 2000 to 2005. He also contended that it is unlawful for a public servant to draw salary from two government organisation, and thus criminal proceedings should be initiated against him.

The police inspector who was summoned by the HC, also gave his statement before the court. The petition has been disposed off.
