State can expect more rainfall, says IMD

According to the Met department, rainy weather is likely to persist across the state over the next two to three days. Several parts of the state have received light to moderate rains in the past two days. It is also likely that some parts of Gujarat will receive heavy to very heavy showers in the next couple of days.

According to the Met department, rainy weather is likely to persist across the state over the next two to three days. Several parts of the state have received light to moderate rains in the past two days. It is also likely that some parts of Gujarat will receive heavy to very heavy showers in the next couple of days. 

“Presently, there are two very good systems persisting across the state. A low pressure system in areas of Saurashtra, Kutch and adjoining Arabian Sea and an offshore trough line from South Gujarat to Kerala persist. Due to these weather activities, good rainfall is expected in South Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch over the next 48 hours,” said Jayanta Sarkar, director, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad. 

He added, “A signal three warning has also been issued for fishermen to avoid going out into open waters in this weather.”

As per the Met forecast, Ahmedabad will retain cloudy weather with moderate rain for the next three days. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 34 degree Celsius. And the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 26 degree Celsius. 

On Thursday, several parts of city received 5.59mm of rainfall. While the east zone of the city recorded highest rainfall at 10.35mm, south zone stood at 5mm rainfall. 

The central, north, west and new west zones received 5.50 mm, 7.70mm, 4.88mm and 0.67mm rainfall respectively. No incidents of tree uprooting or potholes have been reported in the city. The total amount of rainfall received by Ahmedabad this season is 35.46mm.

Maximum temperature in city was recorded two notches below and remained 34.5 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperature was recorded 26.2 which was one degree below normal.
