A group of six young men including a minor were on Saturday accused of harassing girls of a private school located in Nana Chiloda area of the city while they were leaving the institute’s premises. A complaint of harassment was submitted to the Sardarnagar police station against them.

The incident took place around 12.45 pm outside Saraswati School. The complaint was lodged by the principal of the high school, Madhu Parmar,67, a resident of Sejpur.
As per his complaint, six months ago, a group of boys made it a habit of standing outside the school gate to harass the girl students when they would leave for home.
Despite several warnings, the harassment continued, his complaint said.
Later, a complaint letter was given to the Sardarnagar police station regarding the matter. Upon receiving the letter, the police started patrolling the area and this put a stop to the boys’ offensive behaviour.
On Saturday afternoon, though, six of the youths took to their old ways. They stood outside the school gate allegedly to harass the girls. At the time, a police officer was present at the spot and he managed to grab hold of one of the boys. The other five, however, fled upon seeing the man in uniform.
Inspector HB Zala of Sardarnagar police station said, “We found out during the investigation that the boy we caught is a minor. He is a resident of Naroda.
“The search for the other five accused is on and they will be nabbed soon.”
It is learnt that a dispute broke out between the police and the locals when the police tried to catch hold of the group of youths by the Sardarnagar police inspector denied it.
