The dissident minister in CM Vijay Rupani's cabinet Parsottam Solanki warned the BJP of resignation on Wednesday. Instead of attending the office and the first ever cabinet meeting, the minister of state for fisheries department skipped the first meeting after portfolio allocation and remained at home for the whole day with his supporters.

On Tuesday, he had reached CM Vijay Rupani's office with the demand of post of cabinet rank minister and more portfolios, but returned without meeting him.

A huge crowd from Koli (fisherman) community of Saurashtra had gathered at Solanki's residence on Wednesday. All of them declared support to Solanki and reiterated the demand that Solanki should resign from BJP, unless he gets befitting position and portfolios in cabinet.

Solanki said, "I am bound to follow what my community asks me to do. They are of the opinion that I should resign from BJP, if the party does not consider the demands. The Koli community has been meted with injustice and the BJP leaders should try to resolve the issue. I got fisheries only and that does not bear any importance."

On Tuesday, Solanki had said that when CM kept 12 portfolios with him, he should give some of them to other ministers.

He had also staked the claim that he had been elected for five terms and being a senior Koli leader, he should be given important portfolios.

KOLI LEADER BLAZES CONGRESS TOO

Acting president in Gujarat Congress Kunvarji Bavaliya has thrown his hat in the ring and staked claim to become the leader of opposition in Gujarat Assembly. He said, “Out of total 54 seats, 30 seats in Saurashtra went to Congress in recent polls, and that is why the leader of opposition must be from this region. I am running ahead of all, as I am the senior most leader in party. My claim is natural.”
