Inclusive education is a journey and not a destination and requires parents involvement, teachers training and barrier free environment, said Dr Uma Tuli, social worker and founder of Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust, New Delhi. She was speaking on the 2nd day of the International Convention on Inclusive Education held in city.

The 3-day convention that began on Monday and organised the Delhi Public School, Gandhinagar in association with DPS society, witnessed participation from teachers and principals from across the country and aimed at bringing about awareness and acceptance of the special children in the mainstream.

Speaking on 'inclusive education difficult but possible', Dr Tuli, ex-chairperson, education commission, Rehabilitation International, USA, 2012 said, "There is a need to integrate education system."

The session was followed by Dr AK Kundra, president, Autism Ashram Hyderabad on 'How to make transition...what after us' where he spoke about different forms of autism. Showcasing two videos to the participants, he said, "It is very important to tap on hidden talent and feelings of autistic children. Environment has contributed a lot for the happiness of a child. So an autism friendly space should be created so that a child with autism can live happily. Autistic children are capable of doing things which we cannot do.
