Nationalist Congress Party MLA from the Kutiyana assembly seat has moved a petition before the Gujarat high court, pleading to quash complaints. The matter will be heard next week.

NCP MLA Kandhal Jadeja's petition had come up for hearing before the single-bench justice, where the petitioner claimed that he and the complainant have reached a compromise and the complainant has given consent if the complaint against him is quashed. The state government has sought time to make its stand clear on the issue.

Allegations against the petitioner are that on December 24, he and his accomplishes had created ruckus at the petrol pump owned by Samant Mer. The grievance was that the latter had campaigned against Jadeja in the recent assembly elections.

On December 21st, Jadeja had rushed to the police and had beaten Mer when he was at the Ranavav police station. In this connection, police had arrested him. He was later released on bail by the court.

For the second offence, he had approached the high court and got no coercive action against him till December 27 on the grounds that he will be missing the MLA oath ceremony if he was arrested.
