Gujarat government has become active after a gap of two months due to polls. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has chosen Kaushik Patel as his revenue minister in his team.

Patel was the revenue minister in Gujarat during 2002 to 2007 when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister and has now got the same portfolio again.

The minister has set the priority to expedite the pendency of the revenue appeals.

He said, "We have decided that the disposal of the revenue appeals should be done in such as way so that the same nature of cases do not repeat and to bring uniformity in the final order of the appeal to avoid confrontations on the case to case basis. We have also decided that proper reasons and issues should be sited along with the remand order so that the people face fewer difficulties when the demands are served to any person in revenue appeals."

"We have instructed the officials to convert the new tenure land into old tenure land in case the landholder has the possession of agriculture land for more than 15 years. This would minimise the disparity in land tenures and ultimately, that would also lessen the burden of appeals," the minister added.

"We have also focused on the recruitment of revenue patwaris in our department. We aim that at least one Patwari should be available between two villages. We are going to recruit more than 3,500 Patwari across the state by the end of this year as per the recruitment calendar of the state government," Patel further added.

The minister has also made sure that all the district and Tehsil headquarters should get the offices very soon, especially in newly formed districts and Tehsils. The state government will also expedite the process of digitisation of records and resurvey of lands soon.
