The relatives of 28-year old Ketan Patel, who allegedly died in police custody in Mehsana, and other members of Patidar community announced on Thursday that they would claim the body on Sunday and take it to Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. There they will sit on dharna with the body till the government orders CBI probe in the matter, said family’s lawyer BM Mangukia.

Ketan’s father Mahendra said he will perform the last rites of his son only after that.

“I have no faith in local police. On Sunday, we will take out Ketan’s funeral and sit on dharna outside Raj Bhavan with the body,” said Patel.

However, cops say they are ready to deal with the situation.

RB Brahmbhatt, Range IG-Gandhinagar, said, “We have made adequate police bandobast in and around the Civil Hospital to prevent entry of anyone other than patients and close relatives.”

“We are also prepared to prevent their entry into Raj Bhavan,” he said.
