Chintan Shibir, the annual brainstorming session of sta-te government, which used to be held annually earlier, will be held after a gap of three years, after the upcoming budget session of the state assembly. Highly placed sources in the state government said the preparations have been started for the ninth edition of Chintan Shibir.

"Chintan Shibir will be held after the budget session. It is likely to be a two-day affair. The location of Chintan Shibir and other modalities are, however, being worked out," said a senior official, requesting anonymity. Improving the quality of education, emphasis on job creation, healthcare services, and use of technology for service delivery, are expected to be some of the focus areas of the upcoming Chintan Shibir.

The Chintan Shibir was first held in 2004, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister, at Kevadia. It was held annually in the initial years but became an irregular affair after that.

The last Chintan Shibir was held in 2015, when Anandiben Patel was the chief minister, in Gandhinagar. The session will be held after a gap of three years this time. Officials said that the Shibir was not held in 2016 because of change of guard in the state owing to Anandiben's resignation and Vijay Rupani's elevation as chief minister. It was not held in 2017 either, which was an election year.

The chief minister, ministers, bureaucrats and decisionmakers take part in the Chintan Shibir, and discuss important policies and agendas. The participants are encouraged to come up with new ideas for improving and simplifying administrative procedures. Experts from various fields are also invited to address the participants.

The official said that a number of positive interventions have emerged from the discussions held during the Chintan Shibir.

Simplification of Government Resolutions and application forms for availing various services, changes in Doodh Sanjeevani scheme, are among some of these success stories, he added.
