Gujarat elections 2017: Touched by gift for Mom, Rahul gets Sonia to talk to temple trustee

Sardarsinh Parmar, the trustee of Mokal Dhaam temple in Ranesar in Bavla, was all ready to welcome Congress scion Rahul Gandhi on Friday.

What he was not prepared for was a short but brief conversation with Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Rahul visited the temple, which is adjacent to the ground where he addressed a rally.

Parmar said Rahul made him talk with Sonia when he gifted a chundadi (cermonial decorative scarf that is usually offered to the Goddess) and bediyo (ceremonial anklet) to Rahul. "I offered it to Rahul as gifts for his mother and sister. We hoped that the goddess would shower her with good health," said Parmar.

He said he was surprised when Rahul immediately called up his mom and made her talk to him. " I wasn't expecting this. Soniaji thanked me for the gifts. The call got disconnected once but he rang her up again to continue the conversation,"said Parmar.
