A day before the results for the Gujarat Assembly Elections are to be announced, candidates chose to spend it with their family, visiting temples and meeting workers.

None of the leaders that DNA talked to said to be nervous. Take the case of senior Congress leader Arjun Modhwadia who is contesting from Porbandar seat. He spent his day attending social events. "I will be at home for the rest of the day and tomorrow too," said Modhwadia.

Babu Jamnalal Patel, BJP candidate from Daskroi was busy with the repolling in booth no 15 of Daskroi. He also chose to visit the Umiya Mata temple and Ambaji. Patel exuded confidence that BJP will win the elections.

Shaktisinh Gohil, senior Congress MLA said he spent his entire day traveling in his constituency. "I also met the workers at the booth level and talked to them about how to go about things on the day of counting, the data analysis that needs to be done and so on," said Gohil.

Deputy CM Nitin Patel of the BJP said for him the day began like any other day. "I exercised and offered my prayers to God which is my routine. The first half of the day was spent at home with my family in Ahmedabad. The rest was spent in Kamalam (the BJP office) attending a party meeting," said Patel. He said he did not make a trip to temple to pray for victory as he was confident of it.

While Patel may not have felt the need to go to temple, his fellow party man Jagdish Panchal, who is contesting from Nikol, went all the way to Mandvi-Kutch to meet 'Maharaj Saheb', a priest whom he reveres.

The rest of the day he spent with his family relaxing. He also have no plans to have a grand celebration following his victory. Panchal has something in common with Bipin Patel, Congress candidate from Vatva. Patel too chose to spend the day before D-day with his family and taking a much needed rest. He too like Panchal is confident of his victory.

Balram Thavani, BJP candidate from Naroda and Indravijaysinh Gohil, Congress candidate from Nikol spend some time seeking divine intervention.

For Thavani, the day began with a puja and the rest was spend meeting people at his office in Sindhi Panchayat in Naroda. He believes that apart from divine blessings, his work as a former corporator in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Election will bear fruit for him in this election.

Gohil visited the Swaminarayan Temple in Gadhda for blessings. He took the rest of the day off spending it with his family, before resuming to meet people late in the evening.
