Sadhvi Jayshree Giri’s advocate on Friday claimed in high court the police had cooked up the story of her escape while on parole.
When the matter came up for hearing, the Sadhvi’s advocate sought time to file replies on her bail applications. He claimed either she was in police custody or on the run. In either case, in the absence of instructions from her, he needed more time.
Single bench judge RH Shukla has kept the matter for further hearing on June 27.
Meanwhile, original complainant Pritesh Shah, a Palanpur-based jeweller, has opposed the bail applications saying the court should reject them since she has jumped parole/temporary bail and cannot be trusted.
Surprisingly, the state preferred to maintain a silence on the issue, at least for today. The sadhvi is said to have hoodwinked the police on Wednesday and fled.
