Constable on the run after raping PSI in Ahmedabad

A woman PSI was allegedly raped by a constable on the pretext of marriage. A complaint was lodged with the Mahila Crime branch on Wednesday.

The accused and the victim had worked as constables two years ago at the Danilimda police station in Ahmedabad.

The duo was in a relationship when the accused had raped her. He had also promised to marry her, the complainant said.  

However, after the duo was transferred when the victim became a Police sub-inspector (PSI) in Baroda.

The accused was transferred to Surat.

The PSI has alleged that she had asked the accused to tie the nuptial knot several times, but every time he refused. Panna Momamya, DCP of Mahila Crime Branch, said, “We have lodged a case and started an investigation.”

A team has been sent to Surat to nab the constable.
