Five government officials were nabbed after the Anit-Corruption Bureau on Thursday conducted a search operation at the Gujarat Land Development Corporation (GLDC) in Gandhinagar sector-10. Around Rs 56 lakh cash was recovered from the accused.

KS Detroja (Managing Director of GLDC), KC Parmar ( Joint-Director of GLDC), MK Desai, SM Vaghela (supervisor) and SV Shah (secretary) were nabbed from the office with the money.

ACB has lodged a case against Detroja and Parmar. The investigation revealed that the Detroja used take commision from farmers for clearing their grants which they get from the government. The grants used to be cleared by GLDC. It was revealed that Parmar used to collect the money from Detroja.

Over the past two years, the government officials were taking bribes to clear their grants. The ACB officials also raided the house and office of the two and even started checked their bank accounts. It was revealed that the accused accepted Rs56lakh as bribe over the last seven days.

As per ACB officers, the Rs20lakh bribe was taken by Detroja, Rs11.4lakh was taken by Parmar, Rs8.5lakh was taken by Desai, Rs8.7lakh was taken by Shah and Rs8.7lakh was taken by Vaghela. The ACB officers are also going to investigate the data of the past two years in which the grants were passed by the five officers.
