Not a single district remained immune to the violent protest causing disturbing common life
Entire Gujarat state fell into clutches of the violent protest on Monday after the Dalit community took to the streets across the state protesting the SC ruling. Internal transport was affected badly as the protesters stopped the buses and set on blaze while Delhi bound trains were stopped at many of the places. Not a single district remained immune to the violent protest causing disturbing common life.
In Saurashtra region, Rajkot seen the maximum impact as thousands of people turned up on the roads and ransacked city transportation buses and several government properties were damaged by the enraged crowd. The police also detained Congress Dalit leader Vashram Sagathia for provoking the crowd while it forcibly closed the Crystal mall at Kalawad Raod locality here. The police commissioner appealed the protesters to not to cause any problem to others through their agitation. The impact was also seen in Padadhari and Gondal towns.
Violent protest was witnessed at Dhari, Vadia and Amreli talukas in Amreli district. Agitators stopped buses plying in Vanthli, Keshod, Mangrol, and Keshod towns of Junagadh district and damaged the buses too. People from Dalit community forcibly tried to close shops and other establishments in Junagadh and Jamnagar cities. Cases of confrontation between police and agitators also was reported at many of the places.
People took out the rally at Jashonath circle in Bhavnagar city while some unidentified persons set city buses on fire. Rampant incidents of protest and violence were reported in Botad, Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Devbhoomi Dwarka and other places also were reported by the evening.
